With octagonal 15.3cm sighted barrel engraved around the muzzle, border engraved top-strap with retailers name and address, cylinder with knurled forward edge, border engraved frame, trigger guard and butt cap each decorated with foliate scrollwork.

A Cased 54 Bore Percussion Tranter Patent Third Model Self Cocking Five Shot Revolver. Retailed By H. Beckwith, Skinner St., London. Circa 1865. With octagonal 15.3cm sighted barrel engraved around the muzzle, border engraved top-strap with retailers name and address, cylinder with knurled forward edge, border engraved frame, trigger guard and butt cap each decorated with foliate scrollwork. Patent double trigger and foliate engraved rammer, reblued sprung safety stop and arbor pin catch, chequered rounded butt, with a dull grey finish overall. In original lined and fitted mahogany case with accessories including brass bullet mould, a continental brass powder measure with hinged funnel, screwdriver and nipple key, oil bottle, and percussion cap and lubricant tins, cleaning rod and box for spare nipples. The interior of the lid with trade label of W.A. Beckwith, the exterior of the lid with circular vacant brass escutcheon. London proof marks. Henry Beckwith was apprenticed to W.A. Beckwith in 1818. He is recorded at 58 Skinner Street, London between 1863 and 1868.
